Bou Vanna

Lyrics

[Verse I] (Sarah)
You're not my blood
Not my last name
But somehow it feels the same She doesn't care that they aren't related, her love for the culture extends beyond her family ties.
No history ties us
No family tree
Still you mean the world to me
We don't need no papers
We don't need no proof
I know where my heart belongs
It's with you
Bou Vanna Bou is a word to describe an uncle figure in khmer, and Vanna being a male name.
la la la la la

[Chorus] (Sarah)
Bou vanna Here, Bou Vanna is used as a metaphor to describe everyone in the culture that has made connections with her.
Not my real family
But you're my brother in the Apsara Found Family Apsara Asian Resturant is the name of the Cambodian resturant she works at
Through the quiet
Through the storm
You're the place my soul feels warm
Bou Vanna
Oh, I found home in you

[Verse II] (Sarah)
People ask how
People ask why
But I don't owe them a reply
Some hearts are chosen Here the lyricist takes the song and shifts it, changing the meaning from being purely familial and instead focusing on her love for her Cambodian Boyfriend
Not passed down
That sweet love
That I found

[Chorus] (Sarah)
Bou vanna
Not my real family
But you're my brother in the Apsara Found Family
Through the quiet
Through the dark
You're the place my soul feels warm
Bou Vanna
Oh, I found home in you

[Outro] (Sarah)
Together not by blood
Together not by name
This mirrors the beggining of the song

Still Apsara
Made us the same
